One Response to “How to change the radio frequency of a small RC boat.?”

  • Crash and Burn:

Go to an electronics supply store (Radio Shack carrys these too if you have one in your area) Tell them you need a matched set of crystals. Make sure you let them know it is for an RC and that you want another frequency other then the 49 or 27 mhz (The other most commonaly used RC frequency)

Carefully open your boat. Find the circuit board that has the crystal on it and carefully unsolder it. You can get a frequency chip holder where you buy the chips to make future changes easier. Solder the chip or chip holder back into the board being careful not to bridge the curcuit board or burn the board with the iron. If you added a chip holder, plug the receiver crystal into the holder and put the boat back together.

Repeat for the inside of your hand held remote as well. Save your old 49s in case you ever want to mod another RC in the future. Maybe two 27s.
